Colours that are warm, vibrant and joyful. Forms that are chunky and bold with soft hollows and gently bellying curves.
Inspired by the actions we make using everyday household ceramics, Maria Wojdat draws on similarities between the ways of working with clay and cooking techniques. Spontaneous, free movements create the soft hollows and gentle bellying curves in these vibrant, joyful vessels.
The forms refer to the bowl, investigating its symbolism and exploring the nature of its containment. In display the pieces are often grouped, placed to emphasise a coming together or moving apart, supporting or standing alone, exploring the relationships between line, form and colour.
